Making Magic and Staying Positive

I'd like to start out by addressing a few things first. The table in the picture is my personal altar. In the past, I did not feel like I could share it with others. There are many extravagant and beautifully put together altars on the internet. It's okay if it isn't envy worthy or anything. To me, my altar is a refection of myself. I took the time to thoughtfully pick out items that spoke to me. I took the time to make a God/Goddess statue for my altar when I couldn't find or afford the nice expensive ones. Almost everything on my altar was found at a thrift store or a yard sale. Some of it was found outside while walking the trails or at the park as well. Honestly, I couldn't be more proud of it!

For those of you who know me, you'd know that staying positive is not my strong suit. With magic and manifestation of any sort, staying positive is a large part of how a spell will turn out. You have to believe with every fiber of your being that your will is done! What you've asked for will happen! Any seed of doubt will mess it up or cause some inconvenient issues to pop up.

As a practicing eclectic witch, I have witnessed it first hand with my own spells. One of the first spells I ever performed was a healing spell for myself. I felt pretty confident that it went well, but I think it all came down to the wording and what was on my mind. I wanted to be free of the past all together. A week later, I lost my phone which had baby pictures on it as well as a few new ones that I took while we were on vacation. I ended up having to get a new phone when we got back home. The new phone wasn't the same type as the one that was lost so we couldn't recover any pictures. Sometimes the universe gets confused if you send it weird signals, even when you think you're being as direct as possible.

Moral of the story is that you have got to stay positive when doing a spell like that. Some spells require you to hold onto a certain feeling the whole time in order to help manifest the way you want it to. If you can picture it in your mind and hold onto that feeling, it reinforces the reality of it coming to you or whoever the spell is for.

Sometimes, the best way to learn from your craft is by trial and error. You can read every book, blog, or article and watch every YouTube video on it all you want. The best way to learn is to not be afraid of failure. The best way to become more positive and confident in your ability is to practice your craft the way you see fit. Meditation helps and A LOT of if not ALL practicing witches will tell you the same thing. Why? Because it works! I'm not going to lie though, it does take some time to get used to. Starting out, my mind would constantly play through a loop of what I had to do or play a song in my head that wasn't helping me "clear my mind". Eventually, I settled for a walk in woods or on the trails. Some days it was as simple as washing dishes, taking few minutes to look outside at the sky, or just watching the flame from a candle. Now, I can sit for a bit and tune everything else out with minimal interference. This can be different for everyone, you just need to find what works for you.
